The First House in Astrology
The First House or Place is where we begin.
It is where we began and where we begin again and again. Every day that we wake up on this Earth, we wake up in the First Place, which is the body.
In Hellensitic Astrology, this place is considered to be “the helm” of a ship. Imagine that your entire chart is a boat on a journey and that your life is the waves and sea you will traverse.
How will you steer the ship? Who is steering it? That is what the first house tells us.
Sometimes we feel disconnected from our First Place. It feels like there is no one there at the front of the boat. We have no idea where we are going.
So we need rituals that keep our connection to our internal compass strong.
The First House is Understanding Your Self
The First Place is not only about us though. It is about the ways other people see us. What is the way that we meet the world?
Sometimes the way others see us fits the way that we see ourselves. Sometimes it doesn’t, and we have to return back to the ways we connect to the truth of who we are.
This is where we place our hand on our heart and say, this is here. I am here. I am.
This is where when we feel misunderstood, we say, “Rather than seeking to be understood, I will seek to understand myself.”
This is where we validate the truth of who we are and not be overcome and embedded in the way that we are perceived.
