How to Get a Copy of Your Natal Chart

The most important tool you'll need for this workbook is a copy of your natal/birth chart. The position of each of the 12 houses or places is determined from you birth time, date and location, as the time of your birth indicates the sign that was on the eastern horizon when you were born. This is your ascendant.

If you don't already have a copy of your natal chart drawn in Whole Sign Houses (the house system we will use for this workbook), here are instructions for getting a free copy.

Get a Copy of Your Natal Chart

  1. Visit astro.com.

  2. In the top navigation, go to Free Horoscopes. From the dropdown menu choose "Extended Chart Selection."

  3. You can set up an account or go to straight to the data entry page if you don't want to save your chart. On the data entry page, enter your name (this part doesn't matter), birthdate, exact birth time, and location. It also prompts you to enter a gender. It's okay to select event/other if you don't identify with male or female, but if you want to look at the auto-generated descriptions they provide you'll have to choose one (boo).

  4. This part is important: On the extended chart selection page, in the "Options for zodiac and houses" section choose "whole signs" as the house system. If you are comfortable with another house system, go with what you wish, but my explanaaations assume that you use whole signs houses.

  5. Click the button to show your chart. Ideally, print off a copy and save it for future reference!
